Blacksburg to Host State Democratic Meeting

I am excited to announce that the next meetings of the DPVA Steering and Central Committee will be in Blacksburg. This gives us a chance to visit our friends in the Fightin’ Ninth and showcase the beautiful campus of Virginia Tech. We will be holding our meetings and Room Block at the Inn at Virginia Tech located right on Virginia Tech’s main campus.

Also, I am excited to announce new improvements to the weekend’s activities based on your input. We have heard you and are excited to implement a new format. Staff and the committee have worked together and turned the Quarterly Meetings into more of a whole weekend of activities to give members a more “conference feel”. We have stripped some of the reports and updates into breakout sessions and added trainings and programming for those members who stick around after business is done. Also, our caucuses and constituency groups will continue to meet. I’ve also instructed staff to hold “office hours” to talk with members in a more intimate setting to share and solicit ideas. More details about programming and the agenda will be going out in the next email communication.

This weekend will also feature the Democratic Black Caucus’ Junteenth Luncheon and a reception on Friday night sponsored by the Montgomery County Democratic Committee.
